The Championship relegation battle couldn't be closer going into the final round of games this evening.

With the bottom six clubs still in danger of dropping down to League One, as well as mid-table Wigan Athletic, the Luton News has tried to work out exactly what is required for each side to stay up or go down.

24th - Hull City (away to Cardiff) - 45pts

STAY UP: If the Tigers win at Cardiff and Barnsley lose or draw at Brentford, Luton lose against Blackburn Rovers and Wigan lose to Fulham, then City can stay up, as long as the Latics appeal against a 12-point deduction isn't successful.

RELEGATED: If Hull don't claim victory they will be in League One next term.

23rd - Barnsley (away to Brentford) - 46pts

STAY UP: If the Tykes beat Brentford and Charlton, Luton and Wigan all lose, Barnsley will stay up. They could also do it by defeating the Bees and then hoping both Luton and Wigan draw, plus Wigan lose their appeal, as they have a better goal difference than the Hatters.

RELEGATED: Barnsley will be relegated if they fail to beat the automatic promotion-chasers, as a draw won't do.

22nd - Luton Town (home to Blackburn Rovers) - 48pts

STAY UP: If Luton beat Blackburn Rovers and Charlton or Wigan fail to win, the Latics' appeal being turned down, then Town will stay up. Should Charlton and Wigan win, with the points deduction being quashed, Town can still avoid the drop by winning and hoping both Birmingham and Middlesbrough are beaten.

Town can also stay up with a draw, as long as Barnsley and Charlton both lose, with Wigan not beating Fulham, and the points deduction standing.

A defeat might be enough as long as Hull, Barnsley and Wigan don't win, again the Latics points deduction in place.

RELEGATED: Luton could go down even if they win, as if Charlton are victorious, Birmingham and Middlesbrough avoid defeat and Wigan win, while then having a successful appeal to their 12 points deduction, Town would be in League One next term.

Luton could go down if they draw and Charlton avoid defeat, with either Wigan or Barnsley triumphing.

Should Town lose, then they will go down if Wigan, Barnsley or Hull win.

21st - Charlton (away to Leeds) - 48pts

STAY UP: A win will keep Charlton up tonight regardless or results elsewhere.

A draw will also be enough, should Luton lose or draw with Blackburn, and Wigan and Barnsley fail to win.

Charlton could also stay up with a defeat, as long as three out of Luton, Wigan, Barnsley and Hull lose, the Tigers unlikely to overturn a worse goal difference of 16 though.

RELEGATED: Charlton will go down if they lose to Leeds and either Luton get a point against Blackburn, Wigan beat Fulham, or Barnsley defeat Brentford.

Should Charlton draw, then they will be relegated if Luton and Wigan win, as Barnsley are unlikely to overturn their goal difference.

20th - Birmingham City (home to Derby County) - 50pts

STAY UP: If Wigan's appeal fails, then the Blues are safe whatever happens tonight, while if it is overturned, all they need to do is avoid defeat to Derby County.

RELEGATED: Blues would go down if Wigan's points deduction is overturned and they lost to Derby, while both Charlton and Luton gained victories.

19th - Middlesbrough (away to Sheffield Wednesday) - 50pts

STAY UP: Boro's predicament is exactly the same as Birmingham's, meaning a failed Wigan appeal maintains their second tier status, while if it is overturned, all they need to do is avoid defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.

RELEGATED: Like the Blues, Boro can only be relegated if Wigan's points deduction is overturned and they lose to Sheffield Wednesday, while both Charlton and Luton triumph.

13th - Wigan Athletic (home to Fulham) 58pts - 46pts after deduction

STAY UP: If Wigan win their points decision appeal, then they would stay up regardless of results tonight.

However, if they lose 12 points, they would avoid the drop by beating Fulham at home, as long as either Charlton or Luton lose.

RELEGATED: If Wigan's appeal is unsuccessful, then a draw would see them relegated, while a win won't be enough if Luton and Charlton both triumph.
