Ex-Luton midfielder Cameron McGeehan has left Town's Championship rivals Barnsley to join Belgian Pro League side KV Oostende on a permanent basis.

The 25-year-old played 106 times for the Hatters over three different spells at Kenilworth Road, scoring 31 goals, before heading to Oakwell in June 2017.

McGeehan featured 68 times for the Tykes, netting nine goals, also spending time on loan with Scunthorpe United and most recently, Portsmouth.

After signing a three year deal, the club's executive president Gauthier Ganaye said: "We've wanted him for months so I'm delighted we managed to get him here.

“I know Cameron very well from my own time in Barnsley and I’m so excited he is joining KVO.

"He totally fits our style of play and he is used to playing that way cause of his time in Barnsley.

"He is an attacking midfielder with a lot of stamina and he knows how to score goals and give assists. I’m sure he will be able to shine in the Belgian competition.”

McGeehan, who will be hoping to be in contention for Oostende’s opening game of the 2020/21 campaign against Beerschot Wilrijk on Monday, added: "It’s the first time I will be playing outside of England but it’s a good thing to come out of my comfort zone.

"The Belgian competition is the perfect platform to make progression and I like the way of playing that KVO is implementing over here.

"I know Gauthier from my time in Barnsley and he convinced me to come to Oostende.”
