Ex-Hatters chairman Nick Owen has thrown his support behind the appointment of Nathan Jones for his second spell in charge of the club.

The Town boss was named as Graeme Jones' replacement this morning as Luton look to avoid relegation back to League One when the Championship is expected to restart next month.

Like the majority of Luton fans, Owen was left bitterly disappointed with Jones for leaving Kenilworth Road back in January 2019, when he controversially left for Stoke City just days before a crunch trip to Sunderland.

However, tweeting this afternoon, Owen, who is now a vice president of the club after stepping down from his role in August 2017, said: "Nathan J back at LTFC. Fans, right up to the boardroom, were incensed when he left & how.

"I was too, but I applaud his return at this crucial time.

"He's contrite, the hatchet's buried, he's the best man for the job.

"Please get behind him for the sake of a club that'll outlive us all."
