New Luton loan signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has described his season-long move to the Hatters as a ‘match made in heaven.’

The 22-year-old arrived at Kenilworth Road late on deadline day from Premier League side Leicester City earlier this month, agreeing to stay for the remainder of the campaign.

Boss Nathan Jones had been a long-time admirer of Dewsbury-Hall, watching him on a number of occasions when at Blackpool last season and made his acquisition one of the top priorities during the transfer window.

On heading to Town, Dewsbury-Hall, who saw his season cut short when at Bloomfield Road last term due to the coronavirus pandemic, said: “As a player, especially going out on loan, you want to go to a club you know you’re really wanted, and that the manager likes the way you play and really enjoys your style of play.

“So when I knew Luton were interested, it was a pretty easy decision in the end as I know I’m going to a manager that wants me to play and the style of play suits me a lot.

“So it’s a match made in heaven really, I’m really just excited to keep going and hopefully we can do something special at Luton this season.

“Playing for Blackpool and the virus happening, League One didn’t continue so I had to go back to Leicester and just train without playing matches.

“It was tough because I came in pre-season not playing since March and I’m not really used to that, I’m used to playing games.

“So this year was all about playing games for me, as I’m at an age now where I want to push on and make a name for myself and I feel like Luton is the perfect club to do that this season.”

Before moving to Luton, Dewsbury-Hall penned a four year deal at the King Power Stadium, as he is clearly someone who Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers sees has a future too.

The midfielder said: “It benefits everybody.

"I’m going out to get a lot of experience and development and I’m only going to become a better player when I come here and play in the Championship as it’s a really tough league and the games come thick and fast.

“I’m really happy to be here, Leicester wanted me to come, so I just want to kick on now.”

Dewsbury-Hall made not only his Town but also Championship debut during the Hatters 1-0 win at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

Having played in League One for Blackpool last term, scoring four times in 11 games, and making one Carabao Cup appearance for the Foxes this season, Dewsbury-Hall always felt he could cope in the second tier.

He continued: “It’s a bit more intense, a bit quicker, the standard of play is probably a bit better (than League One), but I back myself to play in the Premier League.

“It’s really nice to come here and try and progress, play as many games as I can in a really tough league, so it’s only going to benefit me in the future.

“Since I’ve been in, I’ve been training and just waiting for my opportunity.

"I was happy to get it and I’ve hopefully shown the fans what I can do, we can keep going from here and get some more wins on the board.

At Hillsborough, Dewsbury-Hall was paired alongside fellow recent addition Joe Morrell in midfield, as when asked how he felt it went, he added: “It’s a really good bunch in there, they’re really welcoming and they allow me to express myself.

“They say ‘just get on the ball and do what you can do, try and make things happen,’ they’ve been great with me.

“Me and Joe haven’t known each other for too long but we’ve been put in there together and we’re hoping to get a nice little partnership.

“We both like to play football and we know what each other’s good at.

“So hopefully in the future that can progress and we can have a good little partnership going.

“I want to keep improving on, scoring goals and helping the team, also getting assists, but that will come.

“Hopefully I’ll chip in with a couple of goals in the coming weeks and kick on.

“I want to play as many games as possible and try to help the team as much as I can, whether that’s putting in a performance to keep a clean sheet away from home, or contribute with goals and assists.

"It’s my first 90 minutes for a while and I'm still getting back up to speed, but games are coming thick and fast, so hopefully I can be more influential for the team going forward as well."
