Franks desperate to keep his place

Hatters defender Fraser Franks is determined to keep his place after making a return to the side against Tranmere Rovers on Saturday.

Boss John Still had previously admitted the 23-year-old centre half might leave on loan, before handing Franks his first start since August 19 in the 1-0 triumph.

Afterwards, the ex-Welling and AFC Wimbledon player said: “I’m really pleased to be back. I’ve been back fit for about a month now so I’ve had to be patient and grind away in training and reserve games.

“The gaffer said that if I did that then I’d get a chance and he was pleased with me the other night (against Dunstable) and I’m glad he chucked me in there.”

Franks has recently returned to full fitness after undergoing a hernia operation, but was well aware he would have to bide his time to earn a recall to a side that has kept six clean sheets and conceded just nine league goals in his absence.
