The 23-year-old was one of the stars as Town lifted the Skrill Premier title last term, netting 30 goals.

Although now at Championship side Brentford, Gray is confident Luton’s fans will be celebrating again in May.

He said: “They’ve got the resources to do it, they’ve got the fans to do it and the stadium to do it, so I don’t see why it would be a problem.

“I’ll be backing them to get automatic this year and don’t see what can stop them, especially after you see the likes of Fleetwood and Crawley who did it back to back.

“They’ve got some great young players, and I think they will relish League Two more than they would the Conference.”

Gray also thinks that the likes of Paul Benson, Mark Cullen and Alex Wall, will be able to fire the goals that lead Town to the top three.
