The wideman notched his fourth goal of the season during Tuesday night’s home clash with Carlisle, which the visitors won 4-3 after trailing 3-1 on the hour mark.

Green knows Town can’t afford to many more defeats this term if they are to achieve their goal of promotion, as he said: “It’s a long old drive, we’ve got to go down there and be professional, we’ve got to put a show on for the travelling fans.

“They’ve been brilliant, to take 2,000 to Stevenage last week was unbelievable, the support was brilliant.

“Newport County on Saturday, we’ve really got to turn up as we can’t afford to drop many points.

“If we can stay touching distance with them and keep in and around them, we’ll be all right in the end, to conceded three sloppy goals is massive killer for us.”

One plus point for the Hatters this season has been their away form with four wins on the road to date.

However, Green knows that after just three triumphs in front of their own supporters, it’s at Kenilworth Road they clearly need to improve, adding: “We’ve got to pick up points at home. If you win the majority of your home games and draw your away games, you’re looking at promotion form, so we were on a good run before that.

“We had three (clean sheets) on the bounce, so to lose this game against Carlisle is a bit of a sucker punch.”
