Gregory was ‘devastated’ over Drury’s departure

Speaking to the Red Devils’ website ahead of his side’s trip to Kenilworth Road in tonight’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy clash, Gregory said: “They’ve gone out and brought one or two good players in the summer, one of them from us of course.

I was absolutely devastated to have lost Andy Drury in the summer, he’s an outstanding footballer.

“He’s playing out of position at the moment, by his own judgement. I don’t think he particularly likes playing out there on the wing, but he might start in the centre against us.”

Drury’s move was a long drawn out affair, with Hatters having a number of offers rebuffed, until matching the clause in his contract which allowed him to talk to the club.

About the deal and the competition, that Luton won back in 2009, Drury said: “I had a good loan spell there and a good time last season, so I don’t need to prove myself to anyone there really.

“You always want to win games of football, especially for the this club as the last time it was in it, it won it.

“So we’re defending it really. It would be a good day out for the fans at the final, so we’ll take it seriously.”
