Griffiths and Walker fit for Shakers visit

Hatters duo Scott Griffiths and Charlie Walker are expected to be fully fit for the visit of Bury in the FA Cup second round replay on Tuesday night.

Although Griffiths was on the bench against Morecambe at the weekend, he would have only come on in an emergency, while Walker missed out completely due to a blow to the head the week beforehand.

He said: “Scott Griffiths, we put him on the bench at the weekend, Scott didn’t train last week, but he’s available.

“Charlie took a bad whack to the head and missed a bit of training. The rules actually state that if you get concussed you have to wait a certain amount of time.

“We don’t know whether he was concussed, but in my mind I thought no, I’ll leave him. It’s the boys health, but those two would now be okay to take part.”

The likes of Luke Guttridge, Paul Benson, Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu and Alex Lawless are all still out, while Steve McNulty is suspended after his sending off at the Globe Arena.

Still continued: “I felt for him (McNulty) for the first one as Wilko (Luke Wilkinson) gave him a shocking ball.

“He was probably a bit rash for the second one and when you watch football on TV, there were a few players in the Premier League on Saturday that had a booking and should have got a second yellow and gone, but didn’t.”

Although Fraser Franks and Luke Wilkinson are likely to retain their places, Alex Lacey is in contention after impressing during the second 45 minutes at Morecambe.

Still added: “Lace came on and did all right. When you miss a player, like we missed Gutts at the start of the season, someone else has got to step up to the plate.

“It tells you if the player who comes in can be the player you hope he can be.

“If he’s not playing regularly, waiting for his chance and sitting there anxious to play, what he’s got to do is do that well so that when you come to pick your next team, you say I’m not sure we should change things. That’s what it’s all about for me.”
