The 29-year-old will now be at Kenilworth Road for another year after his 20th league start of the season against Shrewsbury Town triggered the new deal .

Griffiths said: “It’s good to have the security there and good to be able to play for this club for another year at least.

“I was desperate to get to 20 games having missed a couple at the start through my hamstring injury.

“It would be nice to secure more time here as it’s a great club with lots of history, but one year will do me for now.”

Griffiths signed for Hatters in March 2013 and admitted he has thoroughly enjoyed his time at the club, making 77 appearances so far, scoring two goals.

Having won the division with Chesterfield back in 2011/12, the full back thinks Luton have every chance of making it back-to-back promotions this term too.
