Luton assistant boss Mick Harford has stated the club will never sign a player just by watching footage of them on a DVD.

Manager Nathan Jones is still looking to add to his squad before the transfer window closes, admitting recently that work was well underway on that front.

Harford himself plays a big in any new additions the club make, being head of recruitment at Kenilworth Road.

With the coronavirus pandemic still hitting football extremely hard, with no crowds allowed back into watch games any time soon, it means that Harford and his scouting network are being increasingly hampered in their attempts to continue Town's excellent recruitment in recent years.

However, he will make sure any potential new signing is still viewed thoroughly before Town make their move, saying: “Its really difficult as we can’t get to any games, we can’t watch any games.

“As scouts we are allowed to go to the next three games who we’re playing, that’s all we can watch, so there’s no scouting going in terms of watching players.

“We watch videos, watch clips, we’re still getting hundreds and hundreds of emails and texts and messages about players who would like to come and join us.

“We vet them all, we go through them, so I’m doing a little bit of recruitment, but I’m just trying to help Nathan and Paul (Hart) and the boys as much as much as I can.

"We would never sign a player watching a DVD or a video though.

“We have a policy at the football club, he will always be watched live and in a game on a big pitch.”
