Harriman extends QPR stay

The 22-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Kenilworth Road, scoring twice in 39 games, had spoken of his desire to make his temporary switch to Luton a permanent one.

However after the move failed to materialise despite a summer of negotiations, as Town acquired Partick full back Stephen O’Donnell in that time and Harriman has since penned the new contract offered by Rangers.

Speaking to the R’s official club website, Harriman said: “This guarantees I will be here for another season, which I am proud to be.

“My time on loan has been very beneficial for me. I have learnt my trade in League One and League Two, and I know I have improved as a player. I hope I can get the chance here to show how much I have improved.

“This is a fresh start for me. It’s been two years since I last played for QPR and I’m looking forward to hopefully getting that chance again.

“I want to show everyone at the club that has believed in me that I can do it.”

QPR boss Chris Ramsey believes Harriman, who last played for QPR at Anfield in the Premier League during 2013, will have benefited from a season in League Two, adding: “I have heard good things about him from the clubs he has spent time on loan with, and he comes in now with a chance to fight for his place in the side.

“I am sure this will give him a new lease of life. Michael has been at QPR since he was nine years old so the club is in his heart.

“These are the sort of players I want – players that really want to play for QPR, and players that will give everything for us.

“He is the sort who will put the trappings of being a footballer to one side, and concentrate on being the best player he can be.”
