Luton Town defender Johnny Mullins wants his team to complete a professional job in the FA Cup this weekend when they head to National League side Gateshead on Sunday.
The 32-year-old knows full well it won’t be easy against a side who are currently in 15th place, but is well aware of the potential rewards that lie ahead in round three.
We want to go there and win as it’s an opportunity to get into the third round.Danny Hylton
He said: “We all know what the prize is, you beat them and you could potentially get a Man United, an Arsenal.
“So we want to go up there, do a professional job, do everything right, everything the same and hopefully, albeit a long journey, we’ll be in the hat for the third round.”
It’s a similar thought process for striker Danny Hylton too, who said: “It’s nice to have that little break from the league, top of the table, and I think we deserve it.
“We’ll go into the FA Cup now, it’s a tough game, a long journey, but we want to go there and win as it’s an opportunity to get into the third round.”
Meanwhile, although boss Nathan Jones isn’t getting ahead of himself, he too would like the chance to go up against one of the big boys, as he added: “It’s a cliche, but you only think of the game you have and providing we get through that, then we’d like a big tie, we’d like a real glamorous tie and one that gets everyone excited.
“No disrespect to last year, but that was shot firmly down when we had to go to Accrington.
“Accrington are a good side, it was just like another league game and we don’t want 47 league games.
“We’d rather have 46 league games and a wonderful cup tie, that’s the beauty of the FA Cup.”
