2020 Developments chief operating officer Michael Moran has confirmed the Hatters aren’t looking at another site for their academy dome just yet despite Luton Borough Council’s decision to block their efforts to build it at Cutenhoe Road.

Back in October 2020, the council initially passed Town’s application for the facility which is essential to the club moving from Category 3 to Category 2 status, allowing them to play in the Premier League’s U23 development games programme.

However they then rejected the decision at a meeting of the Executive in January, and when asked if the club were starting to search for different venues, Moran said: “I think anything like that’s premature to say and then ultimately that position is with the club, not the development company.

“So for us, all we can keep doing is these steps in the right direction and then hopefully we can start to see progress and schemes being built out.

“We’ve clearly got a very close and important relationship with the council, but in any aspect of adult life you’ll have disagreements.

“We respectfully believe that bringing those fields into community use and putting investment in for schools to use those disused fields is a good thing.

“We continue to believe that and it would be great for the club.

“The council has announced their position, so for us, all we can do is continue exploring our options, keep trying to focus on the day-to-day and then we’ll have to see where it can go.”
