The pair were brought in to pep up a strikeforce that only netted 49 goals in 46 league games last season.

Akinfenwa will find himself up against Hatters’ centre half and captain Steve McNulty and on the battle, Still said: “They’ve strengthened well and I think in Akinfenwa’s case, he plays for lots of clubs so lots of people must like him.

“He’s always been a handful, always conducts himself in a really professional manner.

“He could bash people all over the place, and he does, but not unfairly, and he’s a likeable guy and obviously an effective player because lots of people bring him into their football club.

“So I’ve got no doubts about him being a handful, but I’ve got no doubts about Macca and Luke Wilkinson, or Fraser Franks, or Alex Lacey, being able to deal with him.

“I think throughout the season you come up with all sorts, we’re playing against two players that probably our defenders know or will be aware of at least, so there’s no surprises for us.”
