Hatters boss John Still felt his side’s 2-1 defeat to Cambridge in the Final Third Development League on Tuesday afternoon was the perfect run-out for his players.
Striker Paul Benson got 90 minutes as did the likes of Ryan Hall, Andy Parry, Alex Lacey, Luke Rooney and Fraser Franks.
Still said: “We didn’t know what side they were going to play and didn’t know at one stage if we were going to play some of these or give them the toughest training session we could come up with.
“I had a feeling they might put a strong team out and think it was mostly their first team. It was the perfect game for these players, so I’m pleased with that.”
On the players who featured for Town, Still added: “Ryan’s been injured and then out with tonsillitis, so it was good to see him.
“Paul Benson had another development game and is getting fitter and fitter, Parry needed the game drastically and Rooney has had his third one now, he was all right, it was good.”
