Hatters boss expects Tamworth to relish Luton test

The Lambs have had an indifferent start to the campaign and are sitting in 19th place, just two points above the relegation zone.

Reading from his scouting report during today’s press conference, Still said: “Tamworth appear to have a very good attitude and togetherness.

“They started the game very well, they created one or two chances that they failed to capaitalise on, but Tamworth will be a very tough game.

“So that probably mirrors most that we get. All these games are tough, and I’m not saying people try harder against Luton, that would be unfair on other clubs.

“But I think Tamworth, who I know are a good club, have a good manager and a decent group of players, they’re probably going to look at any game they play against an ex-Football League club as a really good game for them.

“So they’re going to find a little bit extra, so then we have to find a little bit extra.”

Hatters’ preparation for the game was slightly different this week as Still took his squad to the bowling alley on Monday.

He said: “We’ve had a decent week, we did something different on Monday, we went 10 pin bowling in town just to do something different.

“It was good for the spirit, I don’t know who won, but I know who lost. There were a few poor bowlers and most of them are in this office, so it was a good day.

“Tuesday was training and a development game which once again was very good, I was very pleased with that.

“We trained today well, we looked really sharp and then we’ll look at preparation tomorrow.”

Town go into the game full of confidence themselves, on the back of a seven game unbeaten run in the Skrill Premier, but Still knows nothing had been achieved yet as he said: “So far we’ve been consistent, we haven’t been great.

“There are three or four or five others who would say they’ve been consistent, but you’ve got to be consistent 46 times and not 30 times, that’s our aim.

“When we’re good, we want to win, when we’re pretty good we want to win. When we’re not good we want to win and when we’re poor we want to get something from the game, that’s key.”

Hatters confirmed this afternoon they had sold 1,029 tickets for the trip and Still admitted he was blown away by the level of support.

He added: “What can I say. Wherever we go, whoever we play, I think the events of the last few weeks have brought us closer together.

“For the rest of the season for sure we’re going to put in a poor performance. Forget win or lose, we’re going to put in a poor performance.

“Supporters can drag us over the line and I think they’ve been doing that if I’m honest. Their contribution should not be undervalued.”
