Luton boss Nathan Jones has been nominated for the July Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month award.

The Hatters chief started off with a 5-0 defeat against Reading which looked to have sealed the club's fate, before masterminding a superb unbeaten run of three wins from five, taking 11 points from a possible 15 to ensure that against all odds, Town stayed up.

Jones' nomination read: "When July began with a 5-0 home defeat by Reading, all hope of beating the drop seemed to have gone for Luton.

"Jones still believed and 11 points from his team’s five remaining games restored his revered status at Kenilworth Road."

The Town manager is up against some fierce competition though, with Marcelo Bielsa (Leeds United), Steve Cooper (Swansea City), Michael O’Neill (Stoke City), Scott Parker (Fulham) and Gerhard Struber (Barnsley).

The Manager of the Month judging panel comprises former Barnsley manager and Hatters midfielder Danny Wilson, Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; EFL Communications Director Mark Rowan, and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies, with the winner announced tomorrow.
