Jones praises pair for impact off the bench during Wycombe win

Luton boss Nathan Jones doesn’t think either George Moncur or Kazenga LuaLua need to prove to him that they want to be at Kenilworth Road next season.

The pair, who are both out of contract in the summer, were instrumental in Town earning their first away win after going a goal down since October 2018 against Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.

Moncur, who had only been on for three minutes, got the ball rolling with an excellent free kick into the bottom corner, before LuaLua, also a second half substitute, scored an absolute stunner, hammering into the top corner beyond his former Brighton team-mate David Stockdale.

It saw Town swiftly move 2-1 ahead, with Elijah Adebayo also on target shortly afterwards to seal the victory.

When asked whether the performances of the duo, who are just two of a number that could become free agents once the season ends, was enough to show him they want to stay at the club, Jones said: “We keep preaching about it’s a squad game and you get your opportunity.

"They train so well every day, they’ve got a great attitude, they get frustrated at times, but I never see that.

“They want to be here, they don’t have to prove they want to be here, what they have to do is be given opportunities.

"They’ve got real, real quality, it’s just we want to keep evolving.

"Can we evolve with everyone? I don’t know.

"Who can we take forward? Those are the decisions, but they’re brilliant, it’s a brilliant group and it’s two fantastic goals.

"Kazenga has that, he needs to add a bit of consistency Kazenga, but if you get him in and around the box, he can hit a kebab shop 100 metres down the road, or he can hit top bin like that, and that's what he does.”
