Town boss John Still has admitted he needs to rebuild his squad after releasing winger Luke Rooney last week.
The wideman, who has since joined Ebbsfleet, became the first casualty with the manager confirming more would follow suit shortly.
With his squad currently numbering at a hefty 41 players, Still said: “We’ve decided on a couple of things, but I think a statement on people that we’re going to release will be out by this time next week.
“Regardless of where we end up this year, I think this two years has seen us get promotion and establish ourselves in this league.
“Whatever happens this season, I think we have to build again, I really do.”
Losing six in a row and eight from nine to drop out of the play-off places has also sharpened Still’s focus as to just who can cut it in League Two as well.
