Town chief Nathan Jones was bitterly disappointed with the manner in which his side conceded a stoppage time equaliser against Millwall on Tuesday night.

With the six added minutes almost up and Luton 1-0 to the good, the Lions had one last opportunity get the ball into the box after winning a throw deep into Town territory.

They managed to manipulate a crossing position and from Shaun Williams’ delivery, the towering Matt Smith somehow got above both Sonny Bradley and Kal Naismith to nod the ball goalwards.

It cleared the leap of the back-pedalling James Collins for George Evans to steal in and place his downward header beyond Simon Sluga for a last-gasp leveller.

A distraught Jones said: “It’s disappointing with the lateness of the goal and the manner of it, because we knew when they bring Matt Smith on what’s going to happen and we’ve worked for that.

"We’ve had a big enough side, we've got two six foot plus players marking him on the back post and we still lose the header, so it’s very disappointing.

“When you’ve only got one you’re always susceptible, especially against a side like this who go direct and we’ve come unstuck with that.

“I’m really disappointed, it’s really hard to speak about all the positives as I feel so down and so disappointed for them, for us, because we probably deserved three points tonight.

“It's just one, we’ve got to get the second goal and two, we've got to defend that better.”
