Luton boss Nathan Jones knew it would take time for midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to begin to dominate games away from home in the Championship as he has been doing at Kenilworth Road since arriving from Premier League Leicester City.

After understandably initially taking a few matches to settle, the 22-year-old, who had only played in League One before during a spell at Blackpool last term, produced some stellar displays on home soil for the Hatters.

Prior to the weekend’s 1-0 win at Bournemouth, he had yet to really transfer those performances on the road, but that was to change at the Vitality Stadium, as Dewsbury-Hall grabbed the contest by the scruff of the neck in the second.

Running the contest from midfield, the Foxes loanee went on to net the only goal of the game, a lovely bending strike on 67 minutes to secure all three points.

Jones said: "You have to understand no matter how good a player he is, he has not played at this level before and that is why Leicester have trusted him with a good club, where he is going to get game time, he is going to get educated and he is going to develop.

"The trust process starts when we sign him and then when we return him in the summer, then everything will be evaluated.

"He isn’t going to come here and start running a level he hasn’t quite played at immediately or doing fantastically well, he has to build and go into the level.

"The level is a very, very tough level and you have to give respect for that.

"He is up against players at the weekend like (Lewis) Cook who has played for England and (Philip) Billing who is a Denmark international, (Jefferson) Lerma, David Brooks who cost how many millions from Sheffield United.

"He is up against real top players for the level but in that company he is very comfortable and growing, because by the time he goes back, we’ll be expecting him to compete at that level week-in, week-out and dominate because he wants to play at the highest level.

"If he’s going to do that with Leicester, because they are not going to be playing at any other level other than the Champions League."

New signing Kal Naismith has only seen Dewsbury-Hall in action fleetingly after moving to the club late last week, but he too has been left impressed by the quality his team-mate possesses.

He added: “It was a great finish, very composed and he just put it away in the corner.

"I’ve been very impressed with him since I’ve been here, just seeing him and watching him, he seems like a great player."
