Luton boss Nathan Jones doesn’t expect to lose any of his players during the final few weeks of the transfer window.

The deadline for international registrations closes at 11pm on Monday, although Town can still buy or sell players to English clubs until 5pm on Friday, October 16, after an agreement was reached with the Premier League back in July for an extended two-week domestic only window.

With Luton starting the season in excellent form, winning their first four matches, until defeats against Manchester United and Watford recently, then the likes of James Collins, Harry Cornick and Simon Sluga could potentially be courting some interest from elsewhere.

However, Jones wasn't anticipating losing any of his stars, saying: "I don’t think there will be many big transfers, so for example us losing players, it's not going to happen because we won't sell unless a big offer comes in and I don't feel that’s going to be the case this window.

“I think this is a totally different window, there’s not much happening, it’s not like people are getting linked and you're desperate, as I don’t think people have got a lot of money to spend.

"The world has changed so it's about getting the right ones in and making the right decision that will see us through a really tough, long Championship season.”

On how his own hunt for new additions is taking shape, Jones added: “It’s all ongoing, it’s a very difficult window in terms of bringing people in.

“We are trying, we know who we want, it's just about trying to get those over the line.

“If we can’t do it, fine, but if we can, we realise it is a very precarious market, Covid is still rife, who knows what is going to happen?

“Lockdown’s are (possibly) on the horizon, who knows?

“So it is very, very difficult, we’re being very diligent in our work and we want to get the right ones in.

“When I get my players in I will (be happy)."
