Luton chief Nathan Jones will look to ‘revisit’ a transfer deal in the summer after it didn’t quite come off before the window closed on Monday evening.

The Hatters boss bolstered his squad with the additions of Tom Ince from Stoke City on loan and Walsall striker Elijah Adebaoy, who arrived on a permanent basis.

Adebayo revealed his deal was done fairly late in the day, as Jones himself admitted that he had originally been looking to bring in the Saddlers frontman at the end of the season, but with Town unable to tie up another deal, it meant Luton swooped for the former Fulham forward ahead of schedule.

Jones confirmed he is still interested in signing his original target, stating it wasn’t West Bromwich Albion attacker Kyle Edwards, who had been out of his price range, as he said: “Windows are really, really weird, we tried to do a little bit of business and we weren’t able to, which we will revisit, but that meant it freed up a place, so it meant we could bump someone on, in terms of that.

“We tried to go in and get someone, but it wasn’t possible which we fully respect, which meant then there was scope to bump someone up from the summer window to now and then revisit the other one in the summer.

“It’s a constant thing here, we try to move forward, we try to add certain stuff, it was a late one but we were never under any danger of not doing it (Adebayo deal).

"We made the decision midway through to do it when we knew that one wouldn't go through.

"It was completed, the medical took a little bit longer as we had to book certain things in which is a little bit difficult at the minute with Covid, but apart from that, it was all done and everyone's happy."
