Hatters claimed to have rejected Millwall's £1.5m bid for Irish international

Lions interested in signing number one Keeley

Luton have rejected a bid by Championship side Millwall for goalkeeper Josh Keeley, according to Sky Sports.

The 23-year-old moved to Kenilworth Road from Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur last summer, as he made 46 appearances in all competitions for the Hatters last season, keeping 13 clean sheets in the league. Keeley, who had impressed during a loan spell at Leyton Orient prior to joining Town, was also called up by the Republic of Ireland senior team, making his debut in the 5-0 friendly win over Grenada in May.

Having remained number one yet again this term, Keeley has played four times, but already shipped a worrying 12 goals, including five in a 5-2 hammering at Mansfield on Sunday, that match coming after he produced a fine performance against Chelsea in West London, making some terrific stops in what was a valiant and courageous 2-0 reverse.

With the Lions sitting sixth in the second tier, but thrashed 5-1 at Southampton on Saturday, then it appears they are in the market to bolster their goalkeeping department, as writing on their live transfer blog, Sky Sports’ Mark McAdam said: “Luton Town have turned down a formal offer of £1.5m for Ireland goalkeeper Josh Keeley from Millwall. Millwall are closing in on the signing of Stevenage goalkeeper Filip Marschall instead. The 23-year-old is in South London as the two clubs finalise the financial details.”
