Hatters closing in on defender although Fry rumours dismissed

The Hatters are closing in on one more key target according to managing director Gary Sweet, writes Mark Wood.

The Luton chief revealed a centre-half remain their number one priority, but it is not Conference South side Concord Rangers defender Matt Fry.

Concord boss Dan Cowley had claimed Town were chasing the Beachboys man, saying: “We have made him an offer but he has also had an offer from Luton Town, although this move doesn’t appear to be going through now.”

The 22-year-old 6ft 1ins defender has some pedigree having come through the ranks at West Ham United and played 50 times for the likes of Bradford City, Charlton Athletic and Gillingham.

But Sweet dismissed the Fry link, although he did admit they were still looking to bolster their squad.
