Hatters confirm McNulty appeal

Luton Town have confirmed they will be appealing the red card shown to captain Steve McNulty during the 2-2 draw with York City last night.

The skipper received his marching orders with just five minutes to go, for a studs high challenge on Bradley Halliday, but a statement on the Hatters’ official Twitter said: “Confirmed: We will be appealing against the red card shown to Stephen McNulty last night. News of the verdict later this week.

After the game, boss John Still had hinted at challenging the decision as he said: “Looking at it as quickly as we have, we may well have a proper look at it yes.

“I dont think it was a sending off. I’ve just seen it on the DVD, he clears the ball and the fella’s right in front of him.

“He hasn’t really caught him and his foot doesn’t change direction, but I’m not the referee. From where he was, he may have seen it differently.”

McNulty has been successful in an appeal before, as his red card at Southport on the opening day of last season’s Conference clash was rescinded on appeal.

Town could do with the talismanic captain being available for the home clash with Carlisle United this weekend. with doubts over both Luke Wilkinson and Alex Lacey.
