Luton boss Nathan Jones has confirmed the club didn’t attempt to re-sign Chelsea midfielder Izzy Brown on loan this season.

The 23-year-old had been linked with a possible move back to Kenilworth Road, where he made 28 appearances last term, scoring once, before agreeing a season-long loan at Sheffield Wednesday recently, his seventh spell away since arriving at Stamford Bridge in August 2013.

Brown had joined Hatters under previous boss Graeme Jones, playing three times once the season resumed after lockdown, before suffering an Achilles injury that kept him out of the finale.

When asked whether he had tried to bring him back to Town, manager Nathan Jones said: “No, in terms of Izzy, Izzy did fantastically well for the club, but we brought Jordan Clark in and that’s probably us done in terms of attacking players.

"I felt Izzy needed a new challenge and he’s got a new challenge and I really wish him the best.

"He's a great kid, it summed him up really that even though he was injured and went back, last game of the season he was in and around it, we had a little celebration after and Izzy was part of that.

"He did so well for the club, did well for me in terms of the cross for the goal to beat Swansea, contributed all over, so we really do wish him all the best.”
