Luton Town director Stephen Browne has described the plans for the club’s new stadium to be built at Power Court as ‘stunning’.

The Hatters, who were awarded planning permission for the ground by Luton Borough Council in January 2019, along with a mixed use scheme at Newlands Park just two months later, recently submitted their initial amendments to the plans, having seen their original vision affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

There have been no major changes announced so far, with 550 residential units, entertainment, music and conference venue, along with a hotel and a foodstore, plus 1,200 car parking spaces still in the pipeline.

Writing in his programme notes ahead of Luton's 0-0 draw with Bournemouth at the weekend, Browne said: “Some of you will have seen that the progress on Power Court and Newlands Park continues unabated.

"Our decade long plans are coming to fruition and as we all know, it is not a case of ‘if’ we will get a new home, it is purely a case of ‘when.’

“After so much effort and professionalism by all concerned, and despite Covid, it is hugely exciting to know that we are getting closer and closer - the plans that we see at board meetings are simply stunning.

“We will not only get a new home, but the face of Luton is going to be changed forever,”
