Hatters end Jolley interest while Boucaud returns

Hatters have today called off their attempts to sign AFC Wimbledon winger Christian Jolley, writes Mike Simmonds.

The 24-year-old has been on loan at Newport County in recent weeks, scoring five goals in four league games, including two against Luton in the Exiles 5-2 emphatic victory.

He has since returned to the Dons and played in the 3-0 defeat to Oxford United, but a statement on Town’s official website said: “Yesterday (Thursday) the Town officially ended their pursuit of AFC Wimbledon striker Christian Jolley, who will not be making a move to Kenilworth Road after the club withdrew its interest in the player.”

Prior to withdrawing their bid, Wimbledon assistant boss Neil Cox had said: “The bid is with the chairman. We (the coaching staff) have no idea what is happening as the chairman is dealing with it. I know the player has spoken to Luton but that is it.”

Meanwhile, midfielder Andre Boucaud will return to Kenilworth Road on Monday from Notts County after the 28-year-old spent the first half of the season on loan at Meadow Lane.

His immediate future remains unclear though as the former York player said: “I’m going back to Luton, but it’s not really something I want to do because they didn’t want me.

“I’ve not got anything against them, but I’ve been playing regularly in League One so why would I want to go back and play in the Conference?”
