Hatters fans earn high praise from Town duo

Hatters’ fans have been praised for the atmosphere created, particularly at home games, by Town duo Fraser Franks and Hakan Hayrettin.

With more than 9,000 packed into Kenilworth Road once more at the weekend, Luton’s supporters had to wait until the 70th minute for Ricky Miller to break the deadlock.

The previous home league game, Hatters left it even later, but there was no tension emanating from the stands as it has in the past before Luke Guttridge pounced in the 90th minute to defeat Northampton.

Franks said: “I remember coming here playing against Luton and our team talk was always to keep it tight and the fans will get on the team’s back, but they’ve been brilliant ever since I’ve come here.

“We’ve had some frustrating games - last year we lost at home to Woking and Braintree - but the game after the fans are straight back behind us and cheering us on.”

Hayrettin echoed those thoughts too as he knows just how vital the home support is to another promotion push this campaign.

He continued: ““Our supporters are fantastic and from the minute we arrived until now, they’ve been unbelievable and they are a unity with force.”
