Hatters interested in former England international

Hatters boss John Still has confirmed the club could be interested in a deal for former England international Andrew Johnson.

The 33-year-old, who has eight caps to his name, is now a free agent after being released by Crystal Palace this week.

Johnson, who has commanded transfer fees totalling almost £20million during his career, is from Bedford originally and has scored almost 150 goals since making his debut for Birmingham back in 1997.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Still said: “We’ve had some talks, we agreed to give it a few days, we’re not rushing into it and Andrew wasn’t rushing into it.

“I think it’s a case of talks continuing over the next week or 10 days. It’s something that we have spoken about as a club, we have had a talk about it and will continue those talks over the next three or four days.”
