Hatters lose in Portugal

The Hatters gave a run out to new signings Andy Drury and Paul Connolly, while Danny Fitzsimons and Jonathan Smith also played, but a goal in either period saw them beaten at the Vila Real de Santo Sports Complex in Montegordo.

Farense, who finished 10th in the second tier of Portuguese football last term, proved challenging opposition and took the lead in the first half before adding a late penalty.

The Hatters were denied a consolation when Scott Griffiths’ goal from a corner was ruled out.

Hatters are back in training today and fly back to the UK on Monday before travelling to Hitchin Town for a friendly on Thursday evening..
