Luton defender Tom Lockyer played his second 90 minutes of the international break, helping Wales earn a 1-0 victory against Bulgaria in their Nations League match at the Cardiff City Stadium this evening.

The hosts could only muster one shot on goal in a flat first half, Gareth Bale shooting straight at keeper Georgi Georgiev, while David Brooks was off target.

Ryan Giggs side displayed more urgency after the break, but Brooks was denied by the Bulgaria stopper and then saw his half-volley clip the post.

However, just when it looked like the spoils would be shared, Liverpool youngster Neco Williams met Jonny Williams' deep cross to nod home the winner in stoppage time to win the contest.

Boss Giggs said: "We kept going which was the main thing, it wasn't easy.

"We've played two teams into their season and far fitter than us.

"It was our best move of the match that got us the goal, Neco was brilliant when he came on the other night and it was the same today.

"It was a poor performance first half, we stepped up second half. It wasn't vintage, but in the end we got what we deserved I think."

Victory extends Wales' unbeaten run to eight games and a second win from their opening two Nations League matches keeps them top of Group B4, three points above Finland, who beat the Republic of Ireland 1-0.
