Hatters not overly concerned by Mackail-Smith injury

Hatters striker Craig Mackail-Smith’s injury isn’t a major concern according to assistant boss Terry Harris.

The forward came off just before the half hour mark at Hartlepool this afternoon, replaced by Jack Marriott, who went on to bag a double in Luton’s 4-1 win.

Speaking afterwards, Harris said: “Craig had a bit of a tight hamstring.

“I think he’s okay, we’ll get the physio to have a look at him, but hopefully it’s just tight more than anything else, nothing too major.

“Jack came on and did exactly what Craig is there to do, stretch them, get behind them, and I thought he did it ever so well.”

Town made one change to their starting line-up from Tuesday night’s win at Morecambe as Paddy McCourt wasn’t involved, with Luke Guttridge taking his place, as Harris added: “Paddy worked his socks off on Tuesday. He wasn’t really fit, fit when he first came and I know he’s in the Northern Ireland squad, but he was just a bit tight and it wasn’t worth taking that chance.

“I thought Luke Guttridge came in and did ever so well though. Paddy was magnificent on Tuesday night, the same as everyone else, but we know what a good player Luke is and he came in today and just took on his mantle.”
