Hatters postpone two matches due to international call-ups
Luton are searching for new dates
Luton Town will have to rearrange two matches due to upcoming international call-ups.
The Hatters’ trip to Huddersfield Town on Saturday, September 26 and home fixture against Doncaster Rovers on Saturday, October 3 have both now been postponed, with new dates to be announced in the future. A club statement said: “We can confirm that two of our upcoming Sky Bet League One fixtures have been postponed due to international call-ups.
“Our game away at Huddersfield Town on Saturday 26th September and home match with Doncaster Rovers scheduled for Saturday 3rd October are the dates affected, with the first international window of the season now spanning two match weekends. We have received notification that at least three of our players will be called up for their countries, based on the new criteria introduced this season in an attempt to reduce the number of games being called off unnecessarily.

“In order to eliminate the opportunity for clubs to use a senior call-up towards a potential postponement request, despite them not playing regular matches, these players must now have been: Named in the starting XI; OR A named substitute making an appearance prior to the 75th minute -in either: 50% of their Club’s first team matches to date; OR In 4 of the Club’s last 5 first team matches.
“Our EFL Trophy matches scheduled for this period – against Ipswich Under-21s at home on Tuesday 22nd September and away at Colchester on Tuesday 6th October – will still take place as planned.”
