Luton fell to a 2-0 defeat against title-chasing Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Martin Odegaard put the hosts in front midway through the first half, before Town defender Daiki Hashioka unfortunately got the final touch to Emile Smith Rowe’s cross just before half time to double the Gunners’ lead. To find out how the Hatters players rated on the night, see below.
5. Issa Kabore 7.5
Shifted over to the left of the back three this time, he used his pace well to cover round in the first half when the Gunners looked to get behind and down the sides of the Hatters, taking up some good defensive positions. When Luton became more attacking in the second period and he was moved wider, displayed great reserves of energy to get up and down on the right, even if it looked like a lost cause, only to see Town's pass out to him lacking. Managed one foray in the closing stages, crossing for Berry to nod over the top. Photo: Liam Smith
6. Alfie Doughty: 7.5
Great to see the injury at Spurs was nothing serious, as he made an important early block when Zinchenko let fly and some of his passing under extreme pressure was top drawer, finding his team-mates impressively despite the Gunners' press. Got lucky when he miscontrolled once inside his own area, but came alive after the break once Chong was on as his advances on the left were often found by the midfielder. Limited options in the box saw his deliveries repelled, but that combination could be vital to the Hatters staying up. Photo: Liam Smith
7. Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu: 6
Long-serving midfielder looked to help out defensively in the early stages making some desperate clearances as Arsenal looked to flood the Hatters box, including one terrific block on Trossard's effort. Unfortunately got caught in possession by Smith Rowe midway through the first half which led to the Gunners opener and put the hosts on course for a comfortable victory. Off early in the second period as Luton looked to open up a bit. Photo: Liam Smith
8. Ross Barkley: 7
Looked to pose a real threat for the visitors when they had some rare moments of possession in the first half, beating three men with one pass to release Clark and then finding Doughty too. Given an earful by Mengi when he didn't track Smith Rowe for the crucial second that sewed up the points for the hosts. Managed Luton's only shot on target, when his free kick was saved by Raya and got hold of the ball after the break as Town made a fist of it. Unable to thread a pass through the Gunners' defence as his late header went over. Photo: Liam Smith
