Luton came out on top of their must-win Premier League clash with AFC Bournemouth on Saturday, Carlton Morris’s last minute goal sealing a 2-1 victory.
The hosts had fallen behind early in the second half when Marcus Tavernier scored, only to hit back through Jordan Clark’s first ever Premier League strike and then see the skipper win it at the death, turning home Cauley Woodrow’s terrific cross. To find out how the Hatters player rated on the afternoon, see below.
5. Reece Burke: 8.5
Finally gave the Luton boss some good news on the injury front as he was able to return from missing out against Arsenal in midweek and give Luton a stronger-looking defence. Played out on the left to give Town some extra pace in their battle with the speedy Cherries attackers, as he kept Solanke quiet for the whole afternoon, with Bournemouth's forwards unable to really create any scoring chances inside the area. Covered round to make a terrific clearance in the second period as he gave a supreme performance at the back. Photo: Liam Smith
6. Alfie Doughty: 7.5
Set-pieces didn't quite have the same level of threat as they have done, but still gave his all on that left hand side at the end of a gruelling three game week in which he suffered an injury during the first match at Spurs. One sight of goal in the second period when he shot tamely at Neto on his less favoured right foot, despite looking out on his feet, he still had the energy to step out from the back and begin the move that led to the winner, finding Woodrow and overlapping to create the space for him to deliver. 7. Ross Barkley: 8
Determined to do his utmost to get Luton back to winning ways, as he looked to shoot whenever within 25 yards or so of the Cherries goal, sending one effort over the top early on. After a first half in which Town couldn't dictate proceedings, that changed after the break. With the visitors ahead, he kept on trying his luck, one attempt easy for Neto and then another marauding run ending with him missing by inches with the outside of his right foot. Ability to get out of tight corners while still in total control of the ball was a huge reason why the Hatters were able to turn the game around. Photo: Liam Smith
8. Jordan Clark: 8.5
As his manager said, had a mixed first half in which he didn't always keep hold of possession or opt for the right pass but that was to change in the second period when he was a huge reason behind Town hitting back from a goal down. Started to make things happen by getting on the ball and driving at his markers rather than look for a man, as he caused the Cherries a number of problems. Did just that in the lead-up to making it 1-1, as an unerring finish of real quality when Berry tackled the ball into his path saw him register a first Premier League goal of his career.
