Luton finished 2023 with a narrow defeat against Chelsea at Kenilworth Road on Saturday.
The Hatters had fallen 3-0 down with 69 minutes gone, Cole Palmer (2) and Noni Madueke on target for the visitors, only to hit back with late goals from Ross Barkley and Elijah Adebayo. Rob Edwards’ side couldn’t quite find an equaliser though and to find out how the home players rated on the afternoon, see below.
13. Chiedozie Ogbene (SUB): 7.5
On with Chong at the break as his introduction gave Luton some extra pace and creativity on the right hand side. Tried to get at the visiting defence whenever he was on the ball, having one close range shot deflected behind. Played a crucial part in Town's second when taking Morris's pass and picked out Doughty at the back post as he did his utmost to rescue a point. Photo: Liam Smith
14. Carlton Morris (SUB): 7.5
Brought on just after the hour mark as although Chelsea soon had a third, the forward's influence upfront saw Luton go so close to getting something from the game. Inches away from his first goal since September when meeting Doughty's free kick, only to see Petrovic tip his header on to the bar. Started the move which led to Town making it 3-2 as for the second game running, he made an important impact. Photo: Liam Smith
15. Cauley Woodrow (SUB): N/A
First outing since late October as he replaced Lokonga for the final moments with Luton throwing extra men forward to try and search for an equaliser. Photo: Marc Atkins
