Mark Tyler: 7 - Pulled off one fine save to importantly deny Oster with the score at 2-0, but poor defending left him with little chance for either goal.

Jonathan Smith: 8 - Energetic midfielder powered through the middle on countless occasions as the Hatters easily won the midfield battle.

Steve McNulty: 7.5 - Imposing defender won countless challenges and recovered from a few clumsy early touches to boss the backline and show some lovely pieces of skill.

Alex Lawless: 8.5 - Created the first, added a classy brace and was at the heart of much of Luton’s best play.

Scott Griffiths: 8 - Attack-minded full-back bombed on superbly as Gateshead struggled to cope and was hugely unlucky to see his second half header ruled out for a foul.

Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu: 8 - Powerful on-loan West Ham United midfielder harassed the Tynesiders throughout as Town dominated the centre of the park.

Joe Davis: 7.5 - Young defender rarely looked troubled and has seemed to form an almost instant understanding with McNulty.

Luke Guttridge: 7.5 - Midfield maestro again pulled the strings and threatened continuously with a number of efforts before being withdrawn.

Ronnie Henry: 8 - Skipper put in one of his best performances for the Hatters as he defended solidly and marauded forward at every opportunity to good effect.

Paul Benson: 7.5 - Veteran again led the line superbly, linked play well and took his goal superbly to get the ball rolling.

Andre Gray: 8 - Terrorised Heed’s defence with his pace and power and leathered home an unstoppable shot, but needs to improve his final ball.

Matt Robinson (sub): 6 - Not on long enough to make any real impression, but looked keen to get involved.
