Jonathan Smith: 6.5 - Combative showing as Hyde’s midfield were overrun for long periods.

Steve McNulty: 6.5 - Popular centre-half was slightly off the pace for once, but was still big and strong at the back despite putting through his own net.

Alex Lawless: 6.5 - Energetic showing, but touch occasionally let him down and still has plenty of room for improvement to get back to his best.

Scott Griffiths: 7 - Left-back is going from strength-to-strength and set up Gray’s first.

Andy Parry: 6.5 - Slightly harried in the middle, but again won plenty of ball before being withdrawn late on.

Luke Guttridge: 7.5 - Industrious midfielder was again key to Town’s best play and netted his sixth of the season from close range to restore their lead.

Ronnie Henry: 6.5 - Straightforward afternoon again for the skipper who was steady and solid.

Paul Benson: 7 - Birthday boy led the line well, won plenty of flick-ons and helped to build Town’s attacks, all that was missing was a goal.

Andre Gray: 8.5 - All action striker scored a superb hat-trick, set up the other and his run led to Ashworth’s sending off as the lively striker is getting back to his best.

Alex Lacey: 7 - Allowed himself to be caught in possession in a dangerous area, but it’s all part of the learning curve for the talented young centre-half.

Shaun Whalley (sub): 6.5 - Helped supply the ammo for Town’s fourth as he gradually looks to be getting back to the player Town thought they’d signed.

Matt Robinson (sub): 6 - Busied himself in the middle and looked hungry for the ball.

Mark Cullen (sub): 6 - Late cameo as Luton played keep-ball.
