Luton saw their poor away run continue with a 2-1 defeat at Reading on Boxing Day. The hosts were 2-0 in front after a desperately disappointing first half from the Hatters, who despite having the better of the second period, could only pull one back late on through Kazenga LuaLua's long-range strike. To find out how the visitors rated on the afternoon, see below.
1. James Shea: 4.5
Only had two shots all game, but couldn’t prevent either of them finding the net, beaten by McIntyre’s angled volley early on and then Semedo’s one-on-one just before half time. Quiet second period as Town pressed for a way back.
2. Martin Cranie: 3.5
Defender was involved in a moment of real controversy before the break, brought down just inside the area, referee Donohue wrongly adjudging it was outside the box. One of three to make way at the break.
3. Dan Potts: 4
In what was a scrappy game, had very little chance to get forward on the left as Town just couldn’t gain any real territory during the first period. Moved into a three man defence after the break, linking up with Norrington-Davies when possible.
4. Tom Lockyer: 4
Appeared to be handling the sporadic Reading threats fairly comfortably until Town gave up possession late in the first half and he couldn’t prevent the through ball for Semedo to ultimately put the game beyond Luton’s reach.
