Luton saw their five game unbeaten run in all competitions ended by Sheffield United on Saturday. After a goalless first half, the Hatters conceded twice early in the second period, Rhian Brewster and Jack Robinson on target, while they had to play the final half an hour with 10 men, Reece Burke sent off. . James Shea: 5.5
Quiet first half as the Blades were restricted to hopeful attempts, but that all changed after the break, beaten by Brewster from close range, with Luton's defence then allowing Robinson a free header. Lost his footing a number of times.
. Peter Kioso: 5.5
Was behind one of Town’s best moments in the first period when getting forward on the right and picking out Jerome for an opportunity. Struggled to contain the threat of ex-Hatter Norrington-Davies after the break though, the Blades easily on top.
. Amari’i Bell: 5.5
One exciting advance in the first period as he had his heels clipped in a dangerous position. Those forays were few and far between though as Luton could never enjoy a great deal of possession, often hemmed back by their hosts.
. Reece Burke: 6
Had been one of Luton’s better performers on the day, with some vital blocks and managed to overlap well too from his centre half position. Caught out by Brewster’s pace though as he picked up Town’s first red card of the season.
. Sonny Bradley (STAR MAN): 6
With United dominating, he organised the visitors’ back-line well as they limited chances in the first period. Unlucky to see his goal ruled out for offside, but despite making some good clearances, Town were second best after the break.
9. Allan Campbell: 5
Like the rest of the the midfield trio, bar a five minute spell, they spent most of the match having to track their opponents as United knocked the ball around with relative ease. No chance to make it three goals in three games.
10. Admiral Muskwe: 4.5
Straight back into the side following his AFCON adventure with Zimbabwe to partner Jerome, but very much on the periphery and barely touched the ball all afternoon. Taken off when Burke was dismissed on the hour mark.
11. Cameron Jerome: 5
Third start in a row but was starved of service and ended up chasing lost causes as Luton couldn’t ever gain a head of steam. Had Town’s best opportunity when picked out by Kioso inside the area, but shot straight at Foderingham.
12. Elijah Adebayo (SUB): 4.5
Dropped out of the side due to a tight hamstring, but was on the moment that Town fell 2-0 behind. A thankless task as he gave the ball away for the move that saw Burke sent off and never looked like he could engineer a fightback.
