Hatters rated v Braintree

Ronnie Henry: 5.5 - Didn’t get tight enough to Holman who had too much time to tee up Mulley for the second goal.

Steve McNulty: 6 - Good in possession and when going forward but error in judgement allowed Braintree in for the second goal.

Fraser Franks: 5 - At fault for the first goal after letting his man go and was lucky not to see red for two cynical fouls late on.

Scott Griffiths: 6.5 - Town’s best defender on the day and caused a threat down the left side.

Alex Lawless: 6 - Went off with a hamstring problem after only 14 minutes.

Matt Robinson: 6.5 - Provided a threat from the right when moved from central to out wide at half-time.

Cameron McGeehan: 7 - Town’s brightest spark in midfield, always hunting for the ball.

Jake Howells: 7 - arguably Luton’s best player and got Hatters back in the game with an expertly-taken penalty.

Mark Cullen: 6.5 - lively up front before missing a glorious late chance to bring Town level.

Paul Benson: 6 - Was hauled down by Hamann resulting in a red card for the visiting goalkeeper but a relatively quiet afternoon for the striker.

Luke Rooney (SUB): 5.5 - came on for Lawless but went off after failing to get in the game.

Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu (SUB): 5 - struggled badly when he came on, kept giving the ball away.

Alex Wall (SUB): 7 - Lifted the team and the crowd with his entrance and brought Town right back into the game with a spectacular volley.
