Hatters rated v Dagenham & Redbridge

Mark Tyler: 6.5 - Only had one save to make all afternoon, a long range curler from Jamie Cureton. Would have had his heart in his mouth when Hemmings raced through though.

Sean Long: 6.5 - Solid enough from the Reading youngster who didn’t venture too far forwards but stuck to his task manfully for a first clean sheet in Hatters colours.

Scott Griffiths: 7 - Had his hands full with Jodi Jones at time and might have been drawn into conceding a penalty during first half. However, his burst forwards from full back are a definite bonus.

Scott Cuthbert: 6.5 - Centre half was given a real working out by Jamie Cureton throughout as the striker always looked to dissect Town’s back-line. Did well aerially but could do with a bit more composure when in possession.

Luke Wilkinson: 7 - Another who was back on familiar soil and found the movement of Cureton a handful all afternoon. Headed and cleared most things away though as Luton enjoyed a first away shut out.

Nathan Doyle: 7 - Looks to be rediscovering last season’s form as he worked well alongside Smith. After the second goal, effectively shut up shop through the centre as Daggers couldn’t find a way back.

Jonathan Smith: 7.5 - Just Smith’s type of game as he worked incredibly hard once more, always throwing himself into challenges to win the ball back for Hatters.

Josh McQuoid: 7 - Out on the left hand side once more and a decent display once again when running at his markers. Lovely vision and technique to not only Guttridge’s run but also find him too for the first goal.

Luke Guttridge (STAR MAN): 8 - Goal and an assist for Guttridge who was at the tip of Luton’s three-pronged midfield attack. Always looks capable of making things happen and it was an excellently controlled finish as well.

Alex Lawless: 7 - First start in the league and a first goal of the season too. Added some real balance to the side on the right flank and delivered some excellent crosses that went unconverted.

Jack Marriott: 7.5 - Really impressive display by the striker who led the line impressively and had it not been for O’Brien, may well have had a hat-trick. Good perseverance to charge down the keepper for the second goal too.

Craig Mackail-Smith (SUB): 6 - On for Marriott late on and was all energy once more, trying to force mistake against his former side.

Cameron McGeehan: (SUB) 6 - Late introduction for Lawless with the game all but up. Appearance number 50 appearance for the Town too.
