Hatters rated v Mansfield Town

Mark Tyler (STAR MAN): 8.5 - Excellent display from the keeper is taking his opportunity with both hands. Made some crucial and brave stops from Green and Yussuf, while reacted well to deny Westcarr too.

Stephen O’Donnell: 6 - One superb intervention from almost on the goal-line the highlight for the defender. As ever, consistency in the final ball remains the one main frustration.

Scott Griffiths: 7 -Made some typically barnstorming runs as ever, although his distribution went awry at times too. Kept his concentration to help Luton to a first clean sheet of the season though.

Steve McNulty: 8 - Recalled defender was at the heart of everything as Luton clung on in the final moments. Won his headers, and bar two slips that thankfully didn’t prove costly, it was a successful return to the side. Intelligent passing as ever.

Luke Wilkinson: 7 - Reunited with McNulty at the heart of Luton’s defence once more. Early clash with Green added some spice to proceedings and made sure there were no mistakes or late goals this time.

Jonathan Smith: 6 - Early booking meant he had to be careful as couldn’t quite get as stuck in as he would have liked in the heat of the midfield battle.

Olly Lee: 6.5 - Controlled and calm display in the centre of the pitch, although not quite as dominant in the latter stages when Luton kept gifting possession back to the visitors.

Paddy McCourt: 7.5 - Took on the quarter back role to try and get Luton going in an attacking sense. Some wonderful close control, skill and vision at times, with an excellent through ball to set up Mackail-Smith’s penalty.

Cameron McGeehan: 7.5 - Looks far more at home in his position supporting the striker as he got forward to good effect. Linked well with Mackail-Smith and McCourt. Could have scored again too, only to put his close-range header over.

Josh McQuoid: 6.5 - Put in plenty of effort on the flank and makes some good darts into the box. Almost had an assist for Mackail-Smith’s brilliant volley too.

Craig Mackail-Smith: 8 - Denied an absolutely stunning goal by the offside flag. Unbelievable work-rate once more and good signs of an understanding going with McCourt. Clinical from the spot once more.

Danny Green (SUB): 5 - Came on to try and help Hatters keep the ball in the closing stages.

Mark O’Brien (SUB): 5 - Replaced the injured McGeehan with five minutes to go.

Alex Lawless (SUB): 5 - On for literally seconds as Hatters looked to waste some time at the end.
