Hatters rated v Newport

Mark Tyler: 5 – Arguably could have saved both the first and third goals.

Lathaniel Rowe-Turner: 4 – Overrun for the majority of the evening and not strong enough.

Dean Beckwith: 4 – Poor showing from the defender, as Hatters were sliced open.

Alex Lawless: 5.5 – Tried to get things going on the right, but wasn’t a surface for wing play.

Scott Rendell: 5 – Outmuscled in the air as very little stuck all evening.

Jake Howells: 5 – Looked to be more and more frustrated as the match wore on.

Simon Ainge: 4 – Lost his aerial battles as Luton had little answer to Newport’s tactics.

Arnaud Mendy: 5 – Another disappointing display and looks a shadow of the player when first signed.

JJ O’Donnell: 5 – Never the type of game he was going to flourish in.

Ronnie Henry: 5 – Fine cross for Shaw’s strike but own goal summed up the evening.

Andre Gray: 6 – Opportunistic effort was reward for his forward play, but like Hatters, faded at the end.

Jon Shaw: 6.5 (sub) – Good to see him in the opposition box and a cool finish.

Stuart Fleetwood (sub): 5.5 – Tried manfully to salvage the losing cause.
