Hatters rated v Plymouth Argyle

Mark Tyler (STAR MAN): 7.5 - Busy first half as Argyle looked to adopt a shoot on sight policy. Made two excellent stops from Tanner and Carey, but little he could do about stoppage time winner.

Sean Long: 6 - Had his hands full with Wylde in the first period and then didn’t reappear for the second half due to injury.

Dan Potts: 5.5 - Struggled against the impressive Tanner early on before he then felt his hamstring when clearing and had to be replaced.

Scott Cuthbert: 6 - Skipper showed great bravery when it appeared at one stage he was in a bad way and looked a certainty to go off. Recovered quickly and threw himself back into the fray but was beaten by Brunt at the death.

Luke Wilkinson: 6.5 - Partnership with Cuthbert still hasn’t quite clicked as Luton failed to keep a clean sheet once more. Distribution was good though, with one lovely ball to play in Ruddock Mpanzu during the first period.

Nathan Doyle: 6.5 - Effective at nicking possession away from the Plymouth attackers and got better as the game wore on. Hopefully now he can start to recapture last season’s form.

Jonathan Smith: 5.5 - With the added protection of Doyle, more was needed from Smith on the ball this time, but he struggled to really find his passes throughout the afternoon.

Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu: 6.5 - Great to see him finally start for the first time in almost a year. Looked positive and eager to attack so a real shame he had to go off just after half time. Hopefully nothing serious.

Cameron McGeehan: 6 - Once more didn’t at his most comfortable when played out wide, while when he came back into the middle, started to have an effect in the closing stages.

Luke Guttridge: 7 - Midfielder always looked the most likely to set up a goal for the Hatters with his ability to pick a pass and find space in and around the area.

Jack Marriott: 6 - Striker didn’t have his best game with his control and link-up play not quite up to scratch. Injured with 20 minutes to go but battled manfully on for the team.

Alex Lawless (SUB): 6.5 - Added some real balance to the full back position and enabled Town to produce some decent attacks on the flank.

Josh McQuoid (SUB): 6 - Will be delighted to finally break his duck for the side as looked to have earned Luton a point.

Ryan Hall (SUB): 4 - Been waiting for his place in the side and then gets two yellow cards, the second one, utterly needless.
