Elliot Justham: 6.5 - Had stood up to the task well with some decent stops until calamity struck. So unfortunate for the young keeper who has been one of Town’s few bright sparks recently.
Michael Harriman: 6.5 - Full back kept Town’s shape well, although at times struggled to contain Worrall in the second half with the Shrimpers’ wideman sending in some penetrating crosses.
Scott Griffiths: 6.5 - Still battling through the pain to put in another good shift and almost brought Town level with a volley turned over by Bentley.
Luke Wilkinson: 7 - Another who was sound defensively as Luton looked to be on their way to another clean sheet until late on.
Steve McNulty: 7 - Was relishing the aerial battle up against Corr and Cassidy and came out on top for the majority of the afternoon with some towering headers.
Cameron McGeehan: 6 - Looked promising in the early stages before injury prematurely ended his afternoon.
Jonathan Smith: 6 - Plenty of effort once more, but ended up coming off second best against the Shrimpers’ midfield.
Nathan Doyle: 6 - Rushed back into the team again, but didn’t ever get to exert the usual influence on the game he has done so far this season.
Jake Howells: 6 - Couldn’t quite match the impact he had last week against Hartlepool as Southend’s back-line were a much tougher nut to crack.
Mark Cullen: 6 - Was left feeding off scraps for the majority, with his one opening snuffed out by a marvellous block from Prosser.
Elliot Lee: 6 - Missed a wonderful chance early on, blazing wide, before lack of fitness eventually caught up with him as he was replaced.
Shaun Whalley (SUB, STAR MAN): 7.5 - Winger was a constant threat to the Southend defence, particularly during the second half. Brought down for the red card and came closer than most.
Luke Guttridge (SUB): 6.5 - His introduction led to Luton opening the game up in an attacking sense.
Alex Wall (SUB): 6 - Thrown on to add some muscle as Hatters searched for an equaliser.
