Mark Tyler: 8.5 - Made a couple of comfortable first half saves before pulling off a magnificent injury-time stop to preserve all three points. It was also his quick throw that led to the winning goal.

Fraser Franks: 7 - Did well on his first start for three months and seemed to suit the three-man defence . Also almost had an assist when his superb cross was met by Guttridge.

Steve McNulty: 8 - A rock at the back. Instrumental in Town’s eighth clean sheet of the season.

Luke Wilkinson: 8 - Solid at the back and brought the ball out of defence well.

Michael Harriman: 8.5 - Once again thrived in the wing-back role, especially going forward. Bundles of energy and provided Luton’s most dangerous attacking threat down the right side.

Jake Howells: 6.5 - Battling and hard-working performance at left wing-back but struggled to get himself into the game.

Nathan Doyle: 6.5 - Mopped up the danger well but didn’t have much of an impact and was withdrawn on 65 minutes as Luton pressed for a winner.

Jonathan Smith: 8 - It was his surging run from deep that led to the winning goal. Another impressive all-round display from the box-to-box midfielder.

Luke Guttridge: 8 - Pulled the strings early on. Could have had two or three assists with some terrific crosses.

Mark Cullen: 7 - Wasted a great chance to break the deadlock when he skewed wide in the first half. Caused Tranmere problems with his pace and tenacity.

Paul Benson: 6 - Quiet day for the striker and was lucky not to see red for a reckless late challenge.

Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu (SUB): 7 - Seemed to take Town up a level when he was introduced. Caused problems for the visitors.

Ricky Miller: (SUB): 7.5 - On after 65 minutes and made an instant impact. Fine turn and strike to bag the winning goal.

Andy Drury (SUB): 7 - Replaced Guttridge with 15 minutes remaining and was inches away from netting.
